LIST-based survey resarch estimates 9,250 Jewish households in the Greater Hollywood area with at least 23,000 people residing in those households.  Report does not indicate the proportion of people in the 9,250 Jewish households who identify as Jewish, but in 1971 the proportion was probably very high

"1) According to the survey, the best estimate of the Jewish population of Greater Hollywood a t the beginning of 1971 is over 9,000 households with at least 23,000 persons."



Sample designed to represent Jewish households in the Greater Hollywood area, covering 30 census tracts in southeast Broward County. Includes Hollywood, Hallandale, Miramar, Pembroke Pines.

Sample Size: 400 in-home interviews; intereviews conducted from mid-November 1970 to mid-February 1971. Interviewing proved to be more difficult than originally anticipated, so that original goal of 800-1,000 interviews was modified.

Report topics include Jewish population estimates, demographics, household status and household size, marriage and fertility, residence and migration patterns, veteran status, housing and income, employment status, secular education, Jewish education, Jewish connections and rituals,  knowledge of Hebrew and Yiddish, Jewish and non-Jewish organizational connections, social interactions with non-Jews, and adequacy of community services.
